Bengali is one of the Indian languages that originated from Bengal. It is the national as well as official language of People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Several North Indian states of India including West Bengal, Tripura, Assam and Andaman and Nicobar Islands use Bengali as the official language. Bengali language that is spoken and written today has gone through many changes and during the journey many other language families which were prevalent in South Asia contributed to the Bengali vocabulary. Bengali is positioned seventh when it comes to the most spoken languages in the world. The language has its own script while two styles of writing have emerged with somewhat different vocabulary and syntax.
