Bhojpuri

Bhojpuri is an Indian language spoken in the Bhojpuri region of North India which includes purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, western part of Bihar and in North Western Jharkhand. It is one of the recognized national languages of Nepal and Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Mauritius and Suriname. The language is also spoken in Pakistan, South Africa and some parts of Caribbean. The script used for writing is Devanagari. Initially it was written in Kaithi script. It was a script used in Mughal era for administrative purposes. The increasing demand of the language has enhanced the requirement of many documents and even fictions to be translated from other languages to Bhojpuri. Since 1956, many novels have been published in Bhojpuri.
