Zulu
Zulu is the language of Zulu people living in South Africa. It was included among the official languages of South Africa in 1994. It is written with Latin alphabet. Zulu has many click sounds which is quite typical of Southern African languages and are not found in rest of Africa. The language was not a written language until the missionaries from Europe took the initiative. The first grammar book was published in 1850 in Norway. The first written document was a bible translation and it appeared in 1883. The first native educational institution in in South Africa was created by John Dule, who was also the author of first novel written in Zulu – Insila kaShaka. It was published in 1930. Zulu language television started in early years of 1980s.
